Improving Project Accuracy with As-Built CAD Models and Reverse Engineering
During a project’s lifecycle, design changes often occur due to improvements, site conditions, installation requirements, or modifications made during implementation. To accurately document these changes, we update the original CAD model and create an As-Built CAD model that represents the final installed condition. This provides reliable 3D data for future planning, maintenance, upgrades, and modifications.
We create As-Built CAD models by documenting changes throughout the project lifecycle and continuously updating the CAD model to reflect the actual installation. When required, we can also record the reasons and timing of specific modifications, providing engineering teams with better control and traceability of project changes.
When records of previous design changes are unavailable, or when an existing facility does not have an accurate As-Built CAD model, we provide reverse engineering services. Using 3D laser scanning, we capture the existing conditions and generate point cloud data that serves as the basis for creating an accurate 3D CAD model of the equipment, installations, or surrounding area.
This approach provides reliable information about the current condition of an existing facility, helping engineering teams plan future upgrades, modifications, maintenance activities, and new equipment installations with greater accuracy.
